FUNDAMENTALS OF MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION ANALYSIS: A REVIEW

Abstract: In this talk I review the basic concepts of MCDA, which are quite important to understand and follow before we engage in any mathematical modelling practice. The nature of MCDA is therefore revisited, and this is accomplished by covering the following class of concepts: features of multi-criteria decision problems; historical development of MCDA; decision theory and decision analysis; problem structuring; setting criteria; assessments; satisficing solutions; preferences; trade-offs; guidelines for the practioner.
